Circle of Artisans

Haitian Artwork

One way we help fund KareDrew’s efforts is by purchasing and selling Haitian artwork.  We currently have the work of approximately 20 artists, who work either independently or as part of artisan cooperatives. These pieces are in mediums of paint on canvas and paper, metal, wood, textiles, stone, bone, and straw.

We don’t run a retail store. The purchase of a piece of artwork in a time of unrest, or as a boost to a struggling artisan serves as well as other relief efforts.

Artisans are told up front how much a piece will be marked up over and above shipping and handling costs. They name their price.  KareDrew simply says “Yes” or “No”.

We add the shipping and handling costs and add a small amount above which is put toward another effort. The markup is usually about $10.00. This exchange provides a needed venue for artisans, who in turn know that the sale of their work will also help someone in their own country.

Please note: Current conditions in Haiti have made travel to the country unsafe for travelers, and Haitians assisting as drivers or interpreters. Our inventory is currently low.
