One-Time Assistance

Sometimes One Time is Enough to Get Started!

For over 40 years, six of KareDrew’s founding members have been assisting people in Haiti. Every effort we’ve made has been initiated by Haitians themselves.

Support provided includes:

  • Funding for chicken coops and water flow improvements in villages
  • Purchasing medical and dental equipment
  • Providing school supplies, books for libraries, shoes for children, and boots for farmers
  • Supporting road and home repairs
  • Partial funding for medical supplies, surgeries, eye exams, glasses, wheelchairs, leg braces, hearing aids, and daycare for disabled children
Ricardo Balmir – Problem Solver & Visionary

Ricardo inspires confidence in those he works with, embodying the Haitian principle of self-reliance: “There is no ‘they’ coming to fix it, so I must figure out how to do it myself.”

His contributions include:

  • Teaching others his solutions, ensuring the community learns valuable skills
  • He oversaw and designed repairs and improvements at Matthew 25 House
Saint Mary & Camp Izmery

Saint Mary, a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart with a Ph.D. in nursing education, has experienced two major earthquakes in her lifetime – Haiti’s in 2010 and on while serving in Peru. Her role in Haiti led to the management of Camp Izmery which assisted in finding permanent housing, offering food and and financial aid toward rent when needed, using funds she personally raised.
